Construction site security is often put on the backburner compared to the immediate rush to get a project up and running. Often, companies leave hiring security until after they have already been stolen from. However, certain new technologies mean that it is even easier to attain decent security and take care of your construction site.

To that end, we’ve made a list of the easiest ways of looking after your job sites:

1)      The Virtual Guard

This new and innovative system is growing in popularity, often able to do everything a security guard can do and more. This involved a camera system, more reliable than an actual guard as it completely eliminates the risk of human error. Cameras are set up in different points in order to ensure that no corner can’t be seen, and anyone’s attempt to break in will be caught fully.

What’s more, the virtual guard does a ‘walk through’, similarly to a real guard, reporting any suspicions to the server which can then be reviewed to see if it’s a threat. If there is a threat, there is a panic button which immediately calls the local authorities, rendering this system cheap and effective.

2)      Overhead Drones

Drones are being used more and more as the technology develops, for filming events and taking photos. They are already being used to survey construction sites for health and safety issues, but they could have a bigger impact if they were used for construction site surveillance. They can have any type of camera installed on them, so thermal cameras could be very useful at night, sensing body heat and therefore sensing if a trespasser is on the site. Furthermore, they can scan an area much faster than a human guard, and can easily get to any place where help is needed.

3)      Robots

Robot security guards have become an exciting new possibility for construction. These robots are mobile and can ‘think’ like a real security guard, and they are cheaper and more effective than guards, as they record all situations so act as a security camera as well as a guard. These robots will take a few years to become commonplace, but they look very promising for the future of construction security.
