Cable ranked the UK's average broadband speed at 16.51Mbps (megabits per second), which means a Lord of the Rings-length movie would take one hour and two minutes to download. Surprisingly to most people, your speed depends in part on the distance you are from the Street Cabinet. If you are more than one km from the cabinet, you are unlikely ever to get superfast broadband down the BT cables.
